FIG Drops First New Song, “Raspberry Tongue,” of the New Year
Malaysian-born but New York City-based alternative pop artist FIG released her premier single of 2021 on April 8th. This latest single, entitled “Raspberry Tongue,” is the first new music from FIG since December of 2020, when FIG collaborated with Joseph Chilliams for “Azula.”
In “Raspberry Tongue,” FIG creates a very groovy bedroom pop sound while playing with the phrase “cat’s got your tongue.” (In FIG’s song, the chorus goes “Raspberry got your tongue”). The song features a lot of indie and DIY elements to provide a playful song perfect for summer sun fun and relaxation.
FIG has a wide musical ability, allowing her to create both melancholic ballads and also lively upbeat songs all on the same EP. “Raspberry Tongue” is an example of one of FIG’s lively upbeat songs that invokes a smile on the listener’s face, from the moment you look at the album cover (as pictured above) to the moment the song comes to an end.
