Engegård Quartet, a renowned international musical ensemble, has captured the hearts of middle-class music enthusiasts around the world with their performances of classical chamber and Norwegian folk music. Breaking away from their usual repertoire, the quartet has released a 5-part series of videos showcasing their talents in a more diverse range of genres.

Filmed in the picturesque landscapes of Lofoten, in collaboration with Aurora Borealis Multimedia AS, the videos are a visual and auditory treat for fans. “An Evening Prayer” is the first video in the series and features a beautiful rendition of a traditional song from Kvæfjord, arranged by Bjørn Andor Drage. This soul-stirring piece has been a fan favorite and is a testament to the group’s versatility. Another video, “Scottish,” is a jubilant dance number from Lom, central Norway, which has become the quartet’s go-to icebreaker. The video’s vibrant and energetic vibe is the perfect introduction to the group for new listeners and a classic for long-time fans. Adding a unique touch to the series, the group has also included a more solemn and emotional piece, “Wedding March from Eide.”

This composition, based on traditional Norwegian wedding traditions, captures the long march of the bride as she makes her way to her future husband, often accompanied by close family and friends. The quartet has also paid tribute to their cultural roots with “Yoik Suite,” a hauntingly beautiful piece inspired by the singing of wolves in Lapland. “Haugelåt,” the final video in the series, takes inspiration from both traditional folk music and the works of acclaimed composer Edvard Grieg. This narrative piece tells the story of a farmer’s search for his escaped bull, with the maiden in his vision lending him strength and encouragement. The Engegård Quartet has received widespread acclaim for their work, with two “Choc de Classica” awards, a “Supersonic Award” from Pizzicato magazine, and features in leading music publications such as The Strad, Gramophone, and BBC Music Magazine. Their videos have also gained popularity, with Classic FM sharing them on their Facebook page. With their captivating performances and dedication to showcasing a diverse range of musical genres, Engegård Quartet has won the hearts of Middle-class music lovers worldwide.
