Hear ‘Light in the Dark’ from Tim Camrose

UK songwriter and former surgeon Tim Camrose will release Light in the Dark featuring Collectives Gospel Choir on September 19, 2025. Revisiting a standout from his 2022 debut Half of My Life, he delivers a new lead vocal and a fuller choral arrangement that sharpen the song’s message and underline his control as a storyteller and singer.

The lyric draws on Camrose’s four decades in medicine, including time caring for homeless young people who had been assaulted. Its central line—“You don’t want my pity, just a chance to show the world what you can do”—sets a clear, dignity-first tone, and the release has been scheduled to coincide with World Homeless Day. The Collectives Gospel Choir, heard previously on Camrose’s track Fly Again, brings lift and cohesion, widening the song from personal reflection to an inclusive statement without overwhelming his voice. The result is confident and purposeful, the work of a writer who knows how to serve a theme with clarity rather than theatrics.

For listeners who gravitate toward Bruce Springsteen’s narrative focus, Billy Joel’s conversational directness, or Elton John’s melodic assurance, Light in the Dark lands comfortably in that tradition while sounding distinctly like Camrose. It also points to his next chapter: American Stories, a forthcoming collection informed by long-standing ties to the United States, with songs inspired by Chicago, New York, San Diego, and Venice Beach, and a long-held ambition to perform in Nashville.

Measured, empathetic, and well-sung, Light in the Dark functions as both an accessible single and a concise statement of intent from a talented artist in full command of his material. Streaming and download links, along with promo images, accompany the release on September 19.
