Heavy Metal Breakthroughs Thunderor Steal Hearts and Melt Faces on New Single
Thunderor, a three-piece metal band from the heart of Canada, thrash out a terrific new tune called How We Roll. The song precedes the release of the band’s highly anticipated album Fire It Up, which will be released on February 18, 21. In an 80s-infused homage to adventure, the 9-track album brings to life the idea of exchanging casual formal and workplace trappings for leather jackets and the wide road.
The band’s debut hit, How We Roll, and its accompanying video make this point very plain. Instead of quantized drums and pitch correction, an old school approach to production emphasises attitude and a return to the head-banging greats of the 1980s. Heavy metal’s fiercest hooks collide with the glitz of the most powerful synthesisers for a track with a heart anchored in friendship and adventure, despite its nasty screams and thundering licks. The band takes to the vast outdoors on their metal steads, equipped only with each other and devilishly high spirits, as director Sehz Aulakh’s video depicts.

Thunderor’s thunderous romps are united by an ideology that has come to define leader, lead singer/drummer JJ Tartaglia. Tartaglia’s enthusiasm for motorcycles has seen him included in Adventure Bike Rider several times, in addition to infusing the video with his passion. However, for JJ, the call to adventure extends beyond his passion for racing motorcycles and playing pinball (being a ranked International Flip Pinball Association player – yes, really). It’s all about following your heart, whether it means leaving a comfortable existence behind, filming a drum session in an illegal spot (yes, really), yachting, or taking the mike with your friends and letting them free.
Fans of the genre will recognise JJ and bandmate Jonny Nesta from the renowned Skull Fist, who rubbed elbows with Michael Vescera and Larry Howe while rocking out to crowds at Full Metal Cruise, Wacken Open Air, and other festivals. Tartaglia worked on vocals, drums, and keys for a while before enlisting guitarist Nesta and bassist Oscar Rangel to become Thunderor in 2020. The band is gearing up for their 28-show headlining UK tour, which will no doubt be driven by electric riffs, beautiful synthesisers, and pounding drumming, as well as good times.
