REVIEW: Irish-folk Band The Winter Codes Release Album ‘Set The Darkness Reeling’
Calling all fans of The Undertones or Bob Dylan, I have a release for you that will be right up your street and a secure add to your folk playlist. Introducing The Winter Codes who have recently released their album titled ‘Set The Darkness Reeling’ which was released on 1st August.
Doing the genre of folk justice and already in our view a folk classic, the album has strong Irish influences, mixed with clever lyrics and soulful vocals that not only portray emotional messages but upbeat hits.

The Winter Codes is made up of duo, David Walshe and Blood Or Whiskey founder, Barney Murray who both collaborated on the songwriting of the album and leading track titled Too Sly to Die.
‘Too Sly To Die’ has been one of the most popular songs that The Winter Codes have released, With elements of punk differentiates the release from the other tracks on the album. Collaborations on the album have contributed to the diverse yet particular flavour of sound that The Winter Codes have embraced from Daithi Meila from Jigjam to folk-singer Lisa Loughrey and engineer Sean Montgomery.
