Alan Mair Returns With New Album Field Of One And Lead Single How Could I Let This Happen
Alan Mair, founding member of The Only Ones, is set to return with a new solo album, Field Of One, on 3rd August 2026. The release marks a significant new chapter for the influential musician, whose work has left a lasting mark on alternative rock and inspired generations of artists.
Field Of One features twelve songs written by Mair, with the album exploring the trials, challenges and emotional weight of life. Known for his distinctive approach to songwriting, Mair brings together personal storytelling, atmospheric arrangements and alternative rock textures throughout the record.
The album’s lead single, How Could I Let This Happen, will be released alongside the album. Written, sung and produced entirely by Mair, the track is described as a deeply personal piece of alternative rock, built around hypnotic rhythms and a cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of a David Lynch soundtrack.
Mair performs all instrumentation on the recording, with the exception of lead guitar by acclaimed guitarist Zal Cleminson. Across the wider album, Cleminson contributes lead guitar, while Paul Rabigar adds keyboards on selected tracks. With Field Of One, Alan Mair continues to show the creative force that has defined his long and respected career.
