“Saltire (Tartan Army)” Brings Celtic Flair And Football Banter To 2026
A new football anthem has entered the conversation with the release of “Saltire (Tartan Army)” by Rodeo Terrorists. Out now from 27th March 2026, the song is designed as a lively celebration of Scotland fans, capturing the colour, humour and loyalty that have made the Tartan Army famous around the world.
The story behind the single is unusual. Richard, the creator behind Rodeo Terrorists, is a 55-year-old English IT manager who once worked behind the scenes in the music industry, building websites for major pop acts including Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and Steps. After returning to music as a DIY artist, he has channelled his long-standing love of Scotland into a track that is both cheeky and sincere.
According to the release, “Saltire (Tartan Army)” was written in just 30 minutes during a break at work. Despite its quick creation, the song brings together folk-style melodies, electronic punch and pop-rock hooks, aiming for the kind of instant chorus that football fans can quickly make their own.
While the single leans heavily into fun and football rivalry, it also has a meaningful purpose. Richard is using the track to help raise funds for MND Scotland in memory of a close friend. That combination of terrace energy and charitable intent gives “Saltire (Tartan Army)” a wider significance beyond the match-day singalong.
