Rojo Surpasses 500,000 Streams as Laura Mazon Franqui Gains Momentum

Laura Mazon Franqui’s debut solo album, Rojo, has surpassed 500,000 streams on Spotify less than two weeks after its release, marking a significant achievement for a classical guitar recording.

Released through the boutique classical label Prima Classic, the album explores Hispanic and Latin American guitar repertoire. It includes music by Leo Brouwer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tárrega, Joaquín Turina, Jorge Morel, Carlos Rafael Rivera, and Grammy Award-winning composer Claudia Montero.

The album takes its name from Montero’s work Rojo and draws on the symbolism of the color red, including passion, strength, vitality, and transformation. For Mazon Franqui, the recording serves as a musical memoir shaped by memory, resilience, identity, love, and cultural heritage.

The album’s streaming success has coincided with Mazon Franqui’s appearance in a national Times Square campaign with Karat. Together, the two milestones have helped bring greater visibility to her work and to the Latin American classical guitar tradition she continues to champion.
